Bobbi Brown Cabana, Baby, Bitten Crushed Lip Colors Reviews & Swatches

Cabana

Bobbi Brown Cabana Crushed Lip Color ($24.00 for 0.11 oz.) is a rich, medium-dark coral-orange with warm undertones and a satin finish. It had buildable pigmentation from semi-opaque to mostly opaque (two layers). The texture was lightweight, thin, and waxy, though it didn’t feel clingy and still had a subtle sheen to it after the initial application. It applied evenly, but it could have been a bit kinder to my lip texture as it seemed to emphasize imperfections just slightly. The color stayed on well for five hours and was lightly moisturizing while worn.

Formula Overview

$29.00/0.11 oz. – $263.64 Per Ounce

The formula is supposed to have “high color payoff” with a “blotted-down stain effect” that “glides on comfortably” and keeps lips “hydrated.” It’s also supposed to be long-wearing and is buildable from “blotted-down” in one layer to “intense color payoff” in two to three layers. The majority of the shades in the range have medium to semi-opaque coverage in one layer, and they were buildable from there with two to three layers. A few shades applied less evenly than others, though most went on well enough.

The consistency was more like a firmer, harder balm, as it glided easily across my lips, but it didn’t feel wet, emollient, or oily, more waxy like a traditional lipstick but very lightweight. Some shades pulled into my lip lines and a few emphasized my natural lip texture, while others were more smoothing and flattering in finish/texture. The wear typically lasted between three and six hours with some of the richer/darker shades leaving subtle stains behind. The formula was more non-drying to lightly hydrating, but it wasn’t hydrating enough that I’d put it in that category (hydrating lipstick). They had a faint, lemon-meets-wax scent that sometimes wasn’t noticeable at all (depended on the shade).

All swatches are with two layers.

Baby

Bobbi Brown Baby Crushed Lip Color ($24.00 for 0.11 oz.) is a medium pink with neutral-to-warm undertones and a satin finish. It had medium coverage in a single layer, which built up to nearly opaque pigmentation in two layers (as marketed). The consistency felt smooth, firmer but not stiff, waxy without being heavy or clingy on my lips. I felt like the color applied fairly evenly, but it was more prone to clinging to my natural lip texture, which wasn’t noticeable from a normal viewing distance but I could see it in the close-up photo here and there (especially my upper lip area). It wore well for four and a half hours and was lightly hydrating over time.

Bitten

Bobbi Brown Bitten Crushed Lip Color ($24.00 for 0.11 oz.) is a medium-dark pink with subtle, warm undertones and a satin sheen. It had medium, buildable pigmentation that achieved nearly opaque coverage after two layers. The texture felt smooth and waxy as it glided across my lips, but it was thin and more powder-matte as it did not feel wet/creamy on (despite a bit of shine!). The color applied evenly but gravitated toward my lip deeper lip lines and clumped along very minor imperfections. It lasted for four and a half hours and was neither drying nor hydrating on me.
